Unlike consumer-focused AI, industrial AI blends physics-based simulation, engineering knowledge and real-time data to create virtual testing environments for products, factories and projects—reducing prototyping time, predicting risks, improving planning and optimising operations. Malaysia is well placed to benefit given its strengths in electronics, semiconductors and aerospace and its NIMP 2030 ambitions. Simulation-driven AI (e.g., Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE assistants) can boost productivity, quality and competitiveness while augmenting human expertise and addressing talent shortfalls. Trust, explainability and ecosystem readiness are critical for adoption. Countries that integrate industrial AI with real-world engineering are likely to gain a competitive edge in ASEAN’s next industrial phase.
